Dr. Russ Reinbolt YUKON ARCTIC ULTRA 2023
February 4, 2023 @ 8:00 am - February 17, 2023 @ 5:00 pm
About the Campaign
DS Action is excited to share that our friend, Russ Reinbolt, Emergency Room Doctor and Ultramarathon Runner, has chosen to run in support of DS Action AGAIN. This time, he will be racing 430 miles in the extreme cold weather in Canada to fundraise for DS Action and and raise awareness for people with Down syndrome.
Dr. Reinbolt is asking that everyone please contribute what they can to support in his efforts. Whether that be to donate .10 cents per mile that he will run (430 total miles=$43) or any amount that you feel comfortable contributing to his campaign.
You may remember that in July of 2018 and 2022, Dr. Reinbolt ran the Badwater 135 mile Ultramarathon in Death Valley, CA. He recently shared that he will be running in the Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra starting on February 4, 2023. This is said to be the “Coldest and Toughest Ultra” and is 430 miles. Here is some insight that Dr. Reinbolt shared during his previous races regarding the ultramarathons he ran in the extreme heat of Death Valley. He shared what has inspired him to support people with Down syndrome over the years:
“The challenges I will experience in this grueling 135 mile foot race in Death Valley, CA, where temperatures exceed 120 degrees, are nothing compared to some of the challenges that many people with Down syndrome may endure throughout their lifetime.
I learned of DS Action through Adam Hank, a former classmate of my daughter’s, who has Down syndrome. I want to help him, his many friends and all others with Down syndrome as much as possible. Adam and other individuals with Down syndrome give so much to others… Now it’s time for us to give BACK to them.
Since 2018, I have received much support from many families in the Down syndrome community. I will continue to keep them with me in spirit, as I train and compete in this grueling event. Please support us!!
Your generous donations will support DS Action’s current and future goals to provide necessary medical attention and education to people with Down syndrome in our community.
Many thanks! – Russ
About the charity I selected:
DS Action is a grassroots 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, who is celebrating 15 years of serving individuals and families within the Down syndrome community. DS Action established the Down Syndrome Center at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego in January 2008. This was the 1st medical center serving people with Down syndrome in Southern California. Over the past 14 years, DS Action and the Center have provided care for over 1900 patient visits. In 2017, the Down Syndrome Center expanded the ages of the children they see to adolescents. DS Action’s future goals are to provide medical support to people with Down syndrome throughout their lifetime and to offer educational and community building opportunities to them and their families.”
